money can be made in the MUSIC CATEGORY - # of monthly searches.
Overture showed that "music downloads" got 7,464,548 searches
last month!
Combine that with the competition for the top spot
and you can see that MUSIC can be a lucrative category, despite
the competition.
Now, you're likely scratching your head and possibly
thinking "why would I want to spend close to $2.00 for every
click advertising on Overture?" Because you need to go fishing
where the fish are. Compettion is a GOOD GUAGE and is a strong
indicator that money is there waiting to be snagged.
Contrary to other philosophies of finding tiny
niches and advertising for bid words that get very low pay per
click rates, I suggest the opposite: Find the highest PPC rates
and compare the rates with how many monthly searches there are.
Even if you can't initially afford the top spot at around $2.00
per click on Overture (remember it's $2.00 for a reason - people
are willing to pay that - maybe you will too when you see the
sales coming in), you will still get decent traffic and number
of clicks by dropping down a few notches and paying a bit less.
For example, the 10th spot is around $1.00
You can still get a ton of traffic by bidding for
the 10th spot, and if you offer a decent pitch and get good conversion
rates, you'll be making more money than by sticking to 5 cent
bids and getting less traffic.
Now here is yet another alternative that can be
potentially lucrative. Instead of paying around $2.00 a click
on Overture, why not pick up a few bid words on other Pay Per
Click Search Engines like SearchFeed where at this writing you
can get in on the top 5 results for around 4 cents a click. Granted,
you may not get as much traffic, but those clicks at 4 cents
or lower are a bargain!
